The Cemu Wii U Emulator version 1.5.0 now runs Mario Kart 8 almost perfectly
The Cemu Wii U Emulator version 1.5.0 now offers nearly perfect Mario Kart 8 emulation when running on a 7-year-old Intel i5-750 CPU.
In the recent 1.4.0c version of the emulator, Cemu gained it's new PowerPC JIT recompiler that provided 5-6 times faster CPU emulation. This allowed the Emulator tp be able to play a large number of popular Wii U games on fairly old PC hardware including The legend of Zelda: Windwaker HD, Splatoon, Super Mario Maker and Xenoblade Chronicles.
Right now version 1.5.0 is only available to those who back the development of this piece of software on Patreon, with the new version releasing to the public in less than a week. Right now the Team Cemu Patreon has 333 backers and raises over $1,500 a month.
The video above was recorded on a system that was running windows 10 with an Intel i5-750 CPU at 4.0GHz, 8GB system memory and a GTX 970, showcasing how easy emulation has become CPU wise.
Right now the development of the CEMU emulator has moved to a Patreon funded model, where those who fund the development on Patreon gain access to the latest version of the emulator a week earlier than the rest of the public.
Now version 1.4.0c is available to the public, allowing PC gamers to easily play Wii U games on PC hardware, though please bear in mind the legal grey area that is emulation.

Namely, stuttering when it caches shader calls.
Still, good progress.Quote
