Starcraft Universe has now entered Open Beta

Starcraft Universe, the previously Kickstarted Starcraft inspired Multi-player RPG, has now entered its Open Beta stage. The game is free-to-play for all Battle.net users who have the Free Starter Edition of Starcraft II.

This project was originally started under the name World of Starcraft, which was later changed to Starcraft Universe at Blizzard's request. This project raised $90,000 on Kickstarter in 2013 and now after three years is ready for public consumption.

Below is a CG story trailer for the game as well as a gameplay trailer for the game, which showcases some interesting Starcraft themed MMO-style gameplay which will really interest Starcraft fans.

Right now the game is free-to-play, though you can fund the development of this game on the game's IndieGoGo campaign, which allows the developers of the game to raise some money while using Blizzard's IP.

The mod is based at the end of Starcraft II, in an alternative universe where Legacy of the Void, Starcraft II's third expansion, never happened where the Koprulu sector is a barren wasteland where the Terran and Protoss are struggling to survive.

Right now the full game is set to release next month. More information is available on Starcraft Universe on the game's IndieGoGo page
