PlayStation Plus is getting a price hike

On PC online gaming is free, meaning that we often forget that things are very different over on the land of current generation consoles where regular subscriptions like PlayStation Plus and Xbox Live must be used to maintain their online services.

Subscriptions like PlayStation Plus do not just offer console gamers with full access to their platforms online tools and services, but also gives gamers exclusive offers and a great deal of free content which includes games, PS4 themes and DLC.

Now it has been announced that Sony's PlayStation Plus subscription will be getting a $10 price rise in the US for a 12-month membership, making the subscription $59.99. This is a 20% increase in price.

At this time we do not know how the price of a PlayStation Plus subscription in other countries will be affected, though we do expect similar increases in the UK and other European nations.

Bit of a joke considering all the crap users have had to put up with thus far.Quote

Kind of glad I don't have a Playstation, although I wouldn't be suprised if Microsoft do the same.

I know on the xbox you can around 4 games or more for free per month thanks to the backwards compatability but most of the times the games are not that good.

I don't know what type of games Sony offer each month but they won't be decent ones I reckon.

I wonder what reason they are going to use for this increase.Quote

The games offered on PS4 each month have been rather disappointing tbh, mostly just indie titles. There have been some better older titles offered but they've been restricted to PS3 downloads only.Quote

Makes me prettymad tbh. I guess I'll just buy another 12 month subscription before it increases.

I don't even think it's worth 50. Maybe 20. There security history is terrible, so if they increase price. They damn well better be putting all that money into security infrastructure.Quote

As long as they're not blaming it on Brexit that's ok. Quote
