Overwatch Open Beta and Release date announced

Overwatch is one of the highly anticipated games of this year, being an entirely new IP and a very different take on the standard First person shooter game, taking a rock paper scissors combat style with a wide range of unique and lovable characters.

Right now Overwatch is a game that is very popular for streamers, as player worldwide look toward them to see if this game is going to be for them. Now we have news that the game will be entering Open Beta on May 5th to 9th, allowing gamers to see for themselves exactly what the game is about.

The full game will launch on May 24th, but those who Pre-order before April 29th will get access to the Open Beta two days early, giving them, a chance to learn the game before the floodgates open for everyone for free on May 5th. Those who Pre-order will also be able to invite one friend to join them in the Beta’s two day early access period.

Players in the open beta will get access to all the games 21 playable characters, allowing gamers to be able to see exactly what each of them has to offer in game.

Players will be expected to be able to change their characters on the fly in Overwatch, as relying too much on a single character will undoubtedly leave you in the awkward position where the entire enemy team has chosen characters to counter yours, in Overwatch you must adapt in order to win.

Below you can have a look at the current closed beta’s graphical options menu, which has a very wide range of graphical options.  One thing I would like to see tweaked is the Field Of View (FOV) option, which is currently a slider and is not given a numerical value.

Overwatch System Requirements announced

What we can see here from briefly looking at the specs is that this game will require more than two cores/threads, requiring a AMD tri-core CPU or a Hyperthreaded Intel i3 CPU. On the GPU side either a GTX 460 or a HD 4850 is required.

The recommended requirements only cover the game at 60FPS on medium settings, so users who want to play the game with higher settings will need even more powerful hardware, though sadly Bilzzard has not revealed what resolution this hardware is for.
