Nvidia will talk about a "Next Generation Mainstream GPU" at Hot Chips 2018
While one of the biggest topics of discussion at Hot Chips will undoubtedly be Spectre/Meltdown, a recently discovered set of hardware level exploits, the subject of graphics will also be taking a prime position as the second session of the event.
On August 20th, AMD, Intel and Nvidia will all discuss graphics hardware, though Nvidia's talk will easily be the most interesting, at least from a new hardware perspective.
At Hot Chips 2018, Nvidia's Stuart Oberman, their Vice President GPU ASIC Engineering, plans to discuss "NVIDIA’s Next Generation Mainstream GPU", a clear suggestion that new hardware is coming from Nvidia in the near future.
The question that remains is what is Nvidia's "Next Generation" graphics architecture, is it a mainstream version of Volta, is it Nvidia's rumoured Turing or is it something completely different?
You can join the discussion on Nvidia planned talk on a "Next Generation Mainstream GPU" at Hot Chips 2018 on the OC3D Forums. A teaser video for Hot Chips 2018 is available below.
