Nvidia's currently sitting in the middle of a complicated issue. Some new Ampere-powered graphics cards are unstable under specific workloads, and the blame for these issues is getting pinned on a variety of factors, from drivers to capacitors, and overly ambitious GPU clock speeds.

When Ampere launched, some of the Nvidia's partners told us that a new driver was coming to address Ampere's overclocking issues, implying that some of Ampere's early issues lie in software, not hardware. Now, thanks to Nvidia's new Geforce 456.55 WHQL driver, these statements have proven to be accurate.

Nvidia's Geforce 456.55 WHQL driver is "Game Ready" for Star Wars: Squadrons and Call of Duty Warzone (with Nvidia Reflex). This new driver "also improves stability in certain games on RTX 30 Series GPUs". That's right, Nvidia's latest drivers can improve the stability of RTX 30 series GPUs.

If your RTX 30 series graphics card is suffering from instability in certain games, our advice is to try out this new driver and see if these instability issues persist. If they disappear, great, is not, then contact your GPU's manufacturer and ask for a replacement graphics card. At this time, it is unknown how this new driver impacts the performance and stability of the company's RTX 30 series graphics cards.

Below is an excerpt from Nvidia's Geforce 456.55 WHQL driver release notes. Note that Nvidia's stability fix is not listed amongst this driver's "fixed issues"

Pretty solid driver, actually. Even if you're not on Ampere. This one's a keeper.Quote
