Nvidia Launches their 417.71 WHQL Driver to Enable G-Sync on Adaptive Sync Monitors

It has finally happened, Nvidia has added support for VESA Adaptive-Sync to their Geforce series graphics hardware, effectively bringing AMD's FreeSync into Nvidia's ecosystem.

Yes, Nvidia's support is officially limited to selected "G-Sync Compatible" displays, but owners of other adaptive sync compliant displays will be able to enable the feature manually within Nvidia's new driver. The only problem with this is that Nvidia doesn't promise a great experience.

Nvidia's 417.71 driver also offers support for Nvidia's new RTX 2060 graphics card, which is officially available starting today. You can read our review for Nvidia's reference card here and ASUS' ROG Strix RTX 2060 here.

G-SYNC Compatible Support NVIDIA

- G-SYNC can now be used to activate the VRR features of G-SYNC Compatible displays. G-SYNC Compatible displays have been validated by NVIDIA to not show pulsing, flickering, or other artefacts during VRR gaming. See https:// www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/products/g-sync-monitors/specs/ for the list of GSYNC Compatible displays.
• G-SYNC on G-SYNC Compatible displays is supported only with NVIDIA Pascal and later GPU architectures.
• Only single displays are currently supported; multiple monitors can be connected but no more than one display should have G-SYNC enabled.
