Nvidia has GTX Founders Edition GPUs in stock at MSRP

Nvidia has replenished their stock of GTX Founders Edition GPUs in their UK storefront, offering these GPUs at MSRP prices, a rarity right now due to the popularity of cryptocurrency mining.

This offer will allow PC gamers to temporarily purchase these GPUs at their standard pricing, though it showcases that Nvidia is willing to sacrifice their retail and AIB partners to receive all revenue from GPU purchases directly. Why is Nvidia able to sell these GPUs at MSRP, well the answer is simple, they don’t need to consider AIB or retail margins, pocketing all profits from themselves.

On the Nvidia Store, a GTX 1080 Ti Founders Edition costs £679, a GTX 1080 FE costs £529, a GTX 1070 Ti FE costs £419, a GTX 1070 FE costs £379 and a GTX 1060 FE costs £279.

Nvidia’s Storefront presents a problematic position for AIBs and retailers within the GPU market, as Nvidia’s direct purchase storefront effectively says that “we don’t need you”, using their market dominance to absorb more of the industries profits for themselves.

Today’s Nvidia Founders Editions products are Nvidia exclusive, forcing AIBs to create pseudo-reference designs to compete at retail. PC gamers can currently purchase Nvidia Geforce Founders Edition GPUs at MSRP on the Nvidia webstore. This stock of GPUs is not expected to last long.
