New Rise of the Tomb Raider video shows stealth

Many fans called Lara Croft a Bloodthirsty Psychopath after early footage of Rise of the Tomb Raider's combat, but thankfully that is not the case, as the developers show how levels can be completed with no kills in a stealthier manner.

Combat in the game is unavoidable, but in many cases combat can be avoided. When taking the stealthy approach you will be using the environment to your advantage, using objects and noises to distract guards while you move around unseen. Personally the video below makes me thing of Lara Croft as a more competent and silent assassin than those in Assassin's Creed, and certainly not like a young archaeologist.

After GamesCom, some fans asked whether it was possible to play “Advancing Storm” with less enemy engagement. Rise of the Tomb Raider’s expanded combat system centers on player choice, and provides Lara with even more skills, for a spectrum of strategies ranging from stealth to aggression. This alternate playthrough demonstrates a completely non-lethal approach.

From the looks of it the gameplay of Rise of the Tomb Raider centers on player choice, with you deciding how Lara Croft progresses as a character as she goes through these horrible experiences. Will you hold onto your humanity and avoid killing as much as possible or become as aggressive as those who hunt you?

Rise of the Tomb Raider will be releasing early next year on PC after a period of Xbox one exclusivity.

Damn.. that looks like a lot of fun.

It reminds me of the classic games (Tomb Raider 1-5), the developers (who were different at the time) kept trying to bring stealth into each successive game, but never did a good job of it. Looks like they've got it right this time. Quote
