Portable displays are a convenience product, something which is designed to enable multi-screen productivity with notebooks, turning a basic notebook into a gaming workstation.

MSI is quickly becoming one of the top brands in the gaming monitor market, and the next horizon for its Optix brand is mobile gaming monitors. Why bring a full-sized monitor in your travel bag when MSI has its Optix MAG161 on the way? A slim 5mm thick 240Hz IPS panel which supports both HDMI and USB Type-C inputs.

MSI's upcoming Optix MAG161 has become a CES 2020 Honoree, winning a CES 2020 Innovation Award. Sadly, MSI is keeping some of this product's details under wraps, but if it's anything like ASUS' ROG Strix XG17 1080p 240Hz gaming monitor, we should expect the screen to be 17.3-inches in size, and offer an adaptive sync range of 48Hz to 240Hz. That said, it is also possible that this is a 15.6-inch display.

We can expect to hear more about this portable gaming display at CES 2020 in January. Hopefully there we will see the monitor's full specifications, its release date and its pricing.
