With the release of Window 10's April 2018 update, Microsoft has upgraded the functionality of their Windows Mixed Reality platform, updating their SteamVR support.

Amongst other small changes, Microsoft's enhanced SteamVR integration improves the haptic feedback of their motion controllers, with the Windows 10 April Creators update bringing Windows MR's Steam VR support out of "early access". This change should offer users of Mixed Reality headsets a better user experience when playing SteamVR games.

StamVR support arrived for Microsoft Mixed Reality headsets in November 2017, shortly after the introduction of the Microsoft's new VR platform. Today Windows Mixed Reality headsets are made by a long list of hardware partners, like Samsung, HP, Acer, ASUS and Lenovo.

Windows 10's April 2018 feature update also allows users to take photos of their mixed reality experiences using the Windows button on their Windows MR motion controllers.

While these features are technically available now, if you have decided to update your Windows 10 PC manually, April 2018 update will not see a general release until May 8th on patch Tuesday.

Microsoft and five major OEM's got behind this and I would place it a peg lower than no one cares.

I'd call this a career ender for someone at Microsoft.Quote
