Nvidia's G-Sync HDR monitors were announced with a lot of fanfare, promising a high-end HDR 10 implementation in combination with Nvidia's already successful G-Sync technology, merging the two technologies to create gaming displays that would provide both a smooth tear/judder free gaming experience as well as top-tier visual clarity and detail.

The problems emerge when fitting so much complicated tech into such relatively small panels, offering up to 1,000 nits of brightness, 384 zones for local dimming and sync it all up with a variable refresh rate displays with refresh rates/resolutions of up to 4K and 120Hz 4K. Now it looks like Nvidia's G-Sync HDR displays will not release until Q3 or Q4 of 2018, at least according to the display wizards at TFTCentral and BlurBusters

G-Sync HDR was mostly absent from CES 2018, only appearing in the form of Nvidia's G-Sync HDR BFGD (Big FORMAT Gaming Displays), rather than in the traditional monitor form which it was shown in early 2017. Nvidia G-Sync HDR displays were initially intended to release in Q2 of 2017, making the technology over a year late, if TFT Central's estimations are correct. With no showcase at CES, it seems clear that their retail release imminent.

Notable planned G-Sync HDR displays include the 120Hz 27-inch 4K ROG Swift PG27UQ and 34-inch 200Hz 3440x1440 ROG Swift PG35VQ from ASUS, with Acer's X27 and X35 acting as similarly spec'd competitors.

True, but knowing ASUS and ROG monitors, I wouldnÂ’t touch one again... And especially considering what the retail price of these are rumored to be.Quote
