GTX 900 Series GPUs see significant price reductions

When Nvidia released their GTX 1000 series of GPUs they promised a lot of performance for their prices, with the GTX 1070 offering performance to a GTX 980Ti (a GPU that did cost around £520) at the price of just £400.

Now that the GTX 1000 series of GPUs are readily available, Nvidia finally has a valid reason to decrease prices of their aging GTX 900 series GPUs, making them price competitive with Nvidia's current generation lineup.

Below is what the current pricing of most Nvidia GPU SKUs is in the UK. At this time the GTX 960 and lower GPUs seem to have the same pricing.

- GTX 970 £220-£240

- GTX 980 £320-£330

-GTX 980Ti £400-£420

When looking at the GTX 980Ti we can see that has similar pricing to the GTX 1070, which is reflective of their similar gaming performance. The GTX 1070 is still the better buy due to its greater power efficiency and the fact that it used the newest Nvidia GPU architecture, but this new reduced price is great for those who were previously considering GTX 980Ti SLI.

While the prices for the GTX 980 and 970 look attractive but we must remember that AMD's Polaris Architecture is coming and may offer gamers better value for money or prompt another price reduction. Right now it is wise to wait until June 29th so that you can see exactly how AMD's ultra efficient Polaris Architecture performs.
