GTX 1660 Super Specifications Leak Via Chinese Retailer

Nvidia's GTX 1660 Super has been rumoured for quite a while now, but until today the specifications of the graphics card have remained a mystery, aside from the GPU's potential use of GDDR6 memory.

Now, thanks to Maxsun and the Chinese retailer JD.com, the specifications of Nvidia's GTX 1660 Super have been revealed, with momomo_US being the first to spot the GPU's specifications on Twitter

These specifications, which are available in the chart below, show us that the GTX 1660 Super isn't as Super as Nvidia's existing RTX Super series, lacking GPU core upgrades over today's GTX 1660 (non-Super). That's right; the GTX 1660 Super offers users the same 1,408 CUDA cores and the same core clock speeds. All that changes is the graphics card's memory, which has been upgraded to GDDR6.

What's strange is that the GTX 1660 Super utilises faster GDDR6 memory than the GTX 1660 Ti, offering 14Gbps memory instead of 12Gbps. This gives the GTX 1660 Super as much memory bandwidth as an RTX 2060, making it possible that the GTX 1660 Super will be able to surpass the GTX 1660 Ti in some memory-limited workloads.

Even without a CUDA core bump, the GTX 1660 Super is expected to deliver gamers a notable performance over Nvidia's standard GTX 1660. The GTX 1660 Super will offer gamers a 75% increase in memory bandwidth, though this advantage will only result in larger performance gains in memory-limited scenarios.

GTX 1660 Super Specifications Leak Via Chinese Retailer

This release places Nvidia's GTX 1660 Ti in a strange position, as it is both superior and inferior to Nvidia's GTX 1660 Super, offering users more CUDA cores while shipping with slower GDDR6 memory. While we expect the GTX 1660 Ti to be faster in most games, it is hard to ignore the fact that the GTX 1660 Super out-specs the GTX 1660 Ti when it comes to memory bandwidth.
