Eve: Valkyrie will come free with the Oculus Rift at Launch

It has just been announced that Eve: Valkyrie, the multiplayer Flight/dogfighting spin-off of Eve: Online, will be coming free with the Oculus Rift at Launch, giving gamers a true space combat experience which has been designed from the ground up to be used with VR.

Oculus’ founder, Palmer Luckey, had this to say about the game;

    EVE: Valkyrie is one of the most anticipated virtual reality games, and one of the first true VR games to go into development. It perfectly captures the promise of immersive gaming, shooting you into a sci-fi adventure as you pilot a spaceship in search of combat. Battling your friends (and enemies) in multiplayer space dogfights is the ultimate VR thrill, and we’re excited to partner with CCP to bring this experience to Rift owners everywhere.

The Oculus Rift will be coming sometime in Q1 2016, which presumably is the same day that Eve Valkyrie will be launched. Right now a clear launch date has not been revealed for the Oculus Rift. Eve: Valkyrie will be coming to the Oculus Rift and Playstation VR whenever each platform launches.

  • – Intense team-based multiplayer dogfights
  • – Fully immersive 360-degree action combat
  • – Rank and reputation-based character progression
  • – Change strategies on the fly with loadouts and ship-swapping
  • – Unlock and customize advanced ships, weapons and equipment
  • – Choose between different ship classes, each with its own strengths, weaknesses, and role to play on the battlefield

Right now we do not know if any other games will be coming with the Oculus Rift or with it’s direct competitor the HTC Vive, though with the HTC Vive’s affiliation with Valve a game bundle is likely.
