Basemark GPU 1.2 makes GPU benchmarking fully cross-platform

Basemark has releases Basemark GPU 1.2, bringing their benchmarking utility to all major graphical APIs and OS', with version 1.2 adding support for Apple's Metal API and both macOS and iOS.

Before now, Basemark GPU supported Windows, Android and Linux (with version 1.1), but now the latest version of the benchmarking tool supports every major OS on the market, including Windows 10's arm64 version.

Now, graphics processors can be tested across DirectX 12, Metal, Vulkan, OpenGL 4.5 and OpenGL ES 3.1 on compatible OS' which include Android iOS, Linux, macOS and Windows. This allows practically any system to utilise Basemark GPU, with the application offering users three quality modes, Simple, Medium and High, which are designed to test smartphones, laptops and desktop PCs respectively.

Basemark GPU is available in both free and Corporate forms, with the free version requiring an internet connection and force benchmark result submissions. Basemark GPU utilises the Rocksolid engine, which is designed for industrial applications.

GPUScore?

Last month, we confirmed that Basemark plans to replace Basemark GPU with a new benchmarking tool called "GPUScore", which will be an all-new benchmarking application which will be "built from the ground up" for PCs, smartphones and other devices.

While Basemark GPU version 1.2 may be new, it is already on its road to obsolescence. That said, the application remains useful for cross-OS testing and for analysing the performance of graphics hardware across multiple APIs.
