Assassin's Creed: Syndicate's Darwin and Dickens Missions are behind a Pre-order Pay Wall

While hiding missions behind a Pre-order paywall is nothing new for Assassin's Creed, with almost every game in the series benefiting in one way or another from this tactic. I personally have always considered this practice to be very consumer unfriendly, forcing gamers to pre-order a title not on the notion that this game is going to be a good game but due to the fact that they will get a lesser experience of the game when they do not pre-order.

This time with Syndicate Ubisoft has decided to  place  the "Darwin and Dickens conspiracy" missions as a Pre-order bonus, placing two of the most influence characters in Victorian London outside the reach of a large section of the games player base, starving the players of some of the games' more interesting content.

Below is a trailer for the game, which showcases the "Darwin and Dickens Conspiracy" Pre-order bonus.

With Ubisoft's recent track record with Watch Dogs, Assassin's Creed: Unity and several other titles, it i very easy to say that you should not trust their marketing hype, or in their ability to product stable and performance optimized PC ports. PC players should not pre-order their products, simply because they cannot be trusted to function correctly, which is a very sad state for this publisher.

Pre-order DLC is a basic "keep-away" tactic, which they use to add value to a pre-order by taking away content from other players. This DLC is no doubt finished before launch and rightfully should be part of the full game, but Ubisoft are selfishly taking it away in order to get as many early purchases as possible, before anyone has a chance to critique or otherwise prove that this game is a worthwhile purchase.

This is ridiculous. It's getting out of hand, and the AC fanboys need to show Ubisoft that it's not ok by at the very least not pre-ordering the gameQuote

The whole pre-order DLC and retailer exclusive content rubbish really needs to be gotten rid off, all it does is screw over the consumer.Quote

All of the "Exclusive" DLC eventually comes out with the season pass so it's not THAT bad but it is a bit of a urine extraction for AC fans.Quote
