AOC reveals its 1440p, 240Hz HDR Ready AGON AG273QZ monitor

There was a time when 144Hz monitors were considered incredibly fast, and later 240Hz displays came into vogue. There was also a time when these screens were restricted to 1080p resolutions, but as display technologies evolved, resolutions increased and high refresh rates became more common. Now, 1440p screens with 240Hz refresh rates are possible, and AOC's AGON AG273QZ in the latest in this new lineup of ultra-sharp high refresh rate displays.

Thanks to the capabilities of DisplayPort 1.4, a Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) range of 48-240Hz is possible on the AGON AG273QZ, offering gamers ultra-fast 0.5ms response times and support for AMD's FreeSync Premium Pro standard and VESA's DisplayHDR 400 standard.

AOC has stated that this screen will ship with a "next-gen" TN panel, which is said to deliver 126.4% coverage of the sRGB colour space, 93.7% of the AdobeRGB colour space and can achieve a peak brightness of 400 nits. AMD's FreeSync Premium Pro technology can also minimise latency by reducing the latency impact of HDR tone mapping while also delivering variable refresh rates.

While many PC enthusiasts prefer IPS monitors, it is worth noting that TN displays have come a long way over the past decade. Pro Gamers will also prefer their lower latency characteristics. This screen is designed for fast gameplay and crisp resolutions, and in this regard, the AGON AG273QZ shines.

Like other high-end AGON displays, AOC offers its users customisable lighting thanks to AOC's Light FX RGB LED ring, which can be customised using software. This screen also features a VESA-compatible stand which features pivot, swivel, tilt and height adjustment options.

Not bad colors for a TN but the biggest problem with TN is the viewing angles less so color reproduction.Quote
