AOC launched sub £200 144Hz FreeSync monitor

AOC has launched a sub £200 1080p 144Hz FreeSync monitor, which is 100 pound cheaper than it's G-Sync equivalent the AOC G2460PG.

Both monitors sport nigh identical specifications, with both the FreeSync and the G-Sync models sporting the same 1080p 144Hz TN panel with a 800000000:1 contrast ratio, 350cd/m^2 brightness and the same 1ms response time. To the eyes of this writer the only differences between both of these monitors is which adaptive display standard that they support.

"Designed for serious gamers, the 24-inch AOC G2460PF display delivers an extra smooth playing experience with AMD FreeSync™. Combined with an AMD Radeon™ graphics card and AMD Catalyst™ driver, FreeSync™ seamlessly synchronizes the monitor and GPU refresh rates to eliminate tearing, stuttering and input lag. Ultra fast 1ms response time and impressive 144Hz refresh rate diminish distractions like blurring and ghosting that can mean the difference between victory and defeat. Whether you’re racing around the track or stalking enemies in a first-person shooter, the Full HD resolution delivers sharp, true-to-life imagery.

Goodbye motion blur! Equip yourself with twice the frame rate of other monitors and forget enemies that appear to stutter across your screen, making them difficult targets to hit. With a 144Hz frame rate, you see those critical missing images on the screen, showing your foe’s movement in ultra smooth motion and eliminating blur and tearing. Games are too good to go unseen.

A pixel response time of 1 ms means speed without the smear for an enhanced gaming experience. Fast-moving action and dramatic transitions will be rendered smoothly without the annoying effects of ghosting. Choose the right path to success, don’t let a slow display stop you."

Right now the only problem which I have with this monitor is that the manufacturer has not disclosed this monitors adaptive refresh rate range, leaving us consumers in the dark as to this monitor's adaptive refresh rate capability.

Hopefully this monitor will have a wide range of around 30-144Hz, but at this time we simply do not know. We hope that this information will become available before stock of this monitor arrives in the UK.

Being only 1080p, it should be able to go from a range of 30-144. Is there any news on it for US pricing or release?Quote
