AMD R9 Fury X to be affected by Asetek lawsuit

AMD responds to Asetek Cease & Desist order for the R9 Fury X

AMD has responded to Asetek’s Cease & Desist order for the R9 Fury X, saying that the a jury has already found that the Cooler Master Cooler they use does not infringe on any Asetek patents.

We are aware that Asetek has sued Cooler Master. While we defer to Cooler Master regarding the details of the litigation, we understand that the jury in that case did not find that the Cooler Master heat sink currently used with the Radeon Fury X infringed any of Asetek’s patents.

AMD R9 Fury X to be affected by Asetek lawsuit

Over the past number of year Asetek has been hunting down all of those who would infringe on their liquid cooling patents, having already successfully taken a large number of all in one liquid coolers out of the US market, most notably Swiftech’s H220 liquid cooler and Cooler Master’s Seidon Series of Liquid coolers.

Right now we do not know this case will make it to court and how the courts will react to it. Asetek has already fought and won against Cooler Master, but if the jury in the Cooler Master Case has already found AMD’s R9 Fury X GPU Liquid cooler design to be Non-infringing it is hard to see Asetek change that in a separate AMD VS Asetek case.
