AMD plans to launch Zen 3 and RDNA 2 this October at separate events

AMD has announced that they plan to reveal their Zen 3 and RDNA 2 products this October, promising "leadership performance across computing and graphics".

Zen 3 is due to power AMD's Ryzen 4000 series of desktop processors, and RDNA 2 is due to power AMD's Radeon RX 6000 series of graphics cards. In addition to this, RDNA 2 will power both the Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 consoles, albeit in semi-custom forms.

With RDNA 2 AMD's teaser, the company promises gamers "a breakthrough gaming architecture", confirming that RDNA 2 will deliver PC gamers an incredible performance upgrade over today's RDNA-based products. Now, the question is this. Can Radeon best Ampere?

On October 8th, AMD plans to discuss their Zen 3 architecture, and on October 28th, AMD plans to discuss RDNA 2. At this time it is unknown when RDNA 2 and Zen 3 products will launch, though it seems likely that AMD will release new graphics cards in November.

Similarly RoGame unearthedRTX 3080 AoTS scoresin the game's online benchmark result database. AoTS is a DirectX 12 benchmark that has fallen out of favour with users and reviewers but RoGame has gathered some comparisons from colleagues.

In the 'Crazy' 4K quality preset the RTX 3080 managed 88.3fps in AoTS. This compares against an overclocked MSI Gaming X Trio RTX 2080 Ti at 80.29fps, an Asus Dual 2080 Ti with water cooler at 81.55fps, and a 'stock' RTX 2080 Ti which achieved 69.99fps. Meanwhile the Amd Radeon RX 5700 Xt scored 45.5fps in the same 'Crazy' 4K tests."

Personally I'm looking forward yo seeing what AMD bring, if what we already know of 80cu's is right, and then arch improvements on top of RDNA 1....we should be in for a good fightQuote

RDNA2 event on October 28th, really? After RTX 3070 releases, just to benefit the consoles launch on November 10th... I don't know if this nasty movement will work.Quote
