WCCFTech today claims to have received an email from ASETEK with what they claim is all new Reference model of the GTX 980 with a integrated AIO watercooler.

The picture below is what they have show, a GTX 980 where instead of air Based heatsink under the Nvidia cooler's window there is an ASETEK waterblock/pump attached to a radiator with a Noctua fan.

By looking at this picture there is one simple flaw that makes the writer see this as nothing but a FAKE. If this was indeed supposed to be an Nvidia reference design, why would Nvidia place the hose right beside the SLI connectors? This GPU can't work in SLI as the hose from the AIO water cooler would block it. There is also the question why would ASETEK leak this information?

While the idea of a stock watercooled Maxwell GPU is a appealing one, with the lower temperatures povided by the water cooler potentially pushing even more impressive overclocks. Nvidia simply do not need to improve their reference cooling, especially given that AMD does not even have a response to Maxwell.

We have spoken to ASETEK about this and have just received a response, this is a real world product, but will only be available to the asian market. We can see from the Japanese website sycon.jp that these AIO coolers will be available on the GTX 770, GTX 780, GTX 780Ti, GTX 980 and Titan Black.

We have also confirmed that Nvidia have had nothing to do with the design or manufacture of this product, like I had previously though. These AIO cooled Nvidia GPUs will only be available inside systems built by sycom.jp.
