Acer Predator RTX 4090 and Radeon RX 7000 GPU Prototypes Revealed

Acer appears to be ready to enter the high-end GPU market, eyeing EVGA’s former market position

During a visit to Acer HQ, Gamers Nexus were able to look at some of the company’s high-end Predator GPU prototypes, confirming that the company are developing both Nvidia GeForce RTX 40 series and AMD Radeon RX 7000 series products. 

When speaking to Gamers Nexus, Acer stated directly that it is vying for “EVGA’s former spot”, and is hoping to break out of the pre-build gaming PC market with aims to create a wider variety of PC products.

Their Nvidia RTX 4090 Prototype, shown below, is a graphics card that features an integrated liquid cooling solution, which utilises a liquid cooling radiator instead of a traditional heatsink. Eventually, this GPU has an all-in-one liquid cooling setup under its fan shroud, which means that the graphics card does not feature an externally mounted radiator.

Gamers Nexus also showcased a Radeon RX 7000 series GPU model that likely uses Radeon RX 7900 series silicon. This unknown Radeon graphics card is powered by two 8-pin PCIe power connectors and features a triple-slot, triple-fan heatsink. While the design appears to have space for a third 8-pin PCIe power connector, it is not utilised with this prototype. 

Currently, it is unknown what this new graphics card from Acer is. It could be a Radeon RX 7900 XTX, a Radeon RX 7900 XT, or a GPU that uses unannounced Radeon RX 7000 series silicon.

Acer did not reveal when they planned to launch their first high-end graphics cards, though it is clear that they intend to release current-generation AMD and Nvidia products. 

While Acer is planning to fill the void left by EVGA’s exit from the GPU market, Acer are planning to create products for AMD, Nvidia, and Intel, something that EVGA never did. EVGA only made Nvidia graphics hardware, but Acer plans to create graphics cards for all three major GPU makers.
