2K releases a Bioshock: The Remastered Collection Comparison Trailer

2K has now released a Bioshock: The Remastered Collection comparison trailer, showcasing how the games visual have improved when moving to current generation consoles.

We can see that Bioshock has not just been upgraded to full 1080p gameplay but has also received new models, textures and a lot more environmental detail. Looking into the sea we do not just see the fallen city of rapture but more abundant and detailed wildlife as well as improved shadows and lighting.

On thing to remember is that all existing Bioshock and Bioshock 2 owners on Steam will get free upgrades to the upcoming remastered versions when they are released on PC, making this a great time for PC owners to replay these classic games or get a free upgrade if they purchase the original games on Steam.

Rapture and Columbia like you’ve never seen them before! Experience the opening of BioShock fully remastered in all its glory and see how your favorite locations are remastered for current-gen consoles in BioShock: The Collection.

Bioshock Infinite will not be getting a remastered version on PC as the existing version already has the graphical options to "meet current-gen console standards", meaning that the remastered console version will essentially have the same visuals as the existing PC version of the game.

It is great to see that  2K games are offering gamers this upgrade on PC free of charge, as I am sure that plenty of PC gamers would be glad to pay a small price for the visual upgrade. The Bioshock Remastered Collection will be releasing on September 13th on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

AFAIK no free updates for BioShock 1 if you bought the game in stores (aka Retail).

Many did back then. Not sure why they are excluded from this offer.

Did we do something wrong?Quote

I redeemed both of my retail copies on Steam, though having a closer look at the video it seems they have just gone lighting and texture mad, so I'm still unsure as to whether I'd be able to play through again without noticing the low poly environment models.Quote

Update : Seems the policy has changed, and all PC versions of BioShock I and II can be upgraded - the non-steam versions with a somewhat different process where you have to prove your purchase / ownership.

I got my new Steam Code though 2K support. Nice guys there.Quote
