Intel says Cannonlake is on track - Tapes out 2nd gen 10nm products

Intel has reaffirmed that their upcoming Cannon Lake CPU architecture is on track and that they are already working on their second generation of 10nm products.

In a Tweet earlier today, Intel's official News Twitter account has confirmed that they have taped out there first Ice Lake designs, which will become Intel's second-generation of 10nm products.

At this time Intel's roadmaps are all over the place, with rumours of new 14nm Coffee Lake products coming in late-2017 or early 2018, making it unclear when 10nm products will make it to desktop users.

The percentage we don't know. But it will bring something new because it's build from the ground up, completely new - well Cannonlake isn't, but Ice Lake is.Quote

Interesting times are in front of us. AMD should have pushed them just enough so we can see some proper advances.Quote
