der8auer releases his Delid-Die-Mate 2 to the market
In the past CPU delidding was a dangerous task, one which required a high level or precision, a vice or a razor blade. In the early days of CPU delidding many CPUs were destroyed, some due to user error and others due to dangerous methods.
Over time delidding has become a lot safer, thanks to the development of delidding tools by professional overclockers, with der8auer's first delid-die-mate tool releasing in 2015.
With Intel's latest Skylake and Kaby Lake series CPUs the processor's PCB is too thin for traditional vice methods to work, at least without the risk of damaging your CPU. This has made the need for specialised CPU IHS removal tools greater than ever, as nobody wants to turn their £200+ CPU into a paper weight.
Now Kaby Lake has been released, bringing overclockers a whole new generation of Intel CPUs to delid, though this time der8auer has worked to decrease the price of his specialised delidding tool with the release of the Delid-Die-Mate 2.
This new tool costs a mere €29.90 at CaseKing.de, which is less than half the price of der8auer's last generation delidding tool. This tool is compatible with Ivy-Bridge, Haswell, Devil's Canyon, Broadwell, Skylake and Kaby Lake series desktop CPUs, which covers almost every 115X CPU on the market, with the exception of Sandy-Bridge.
The der8auer Delid-Die-Mate simplifies this process and removes all risk of damaging your CPU. The tool is two precision milled blocks that clamp together around the CPU with even force distribution that locks the CPU in place safely. By turning the screw on the back of the device, the lid of the CPU is pushed steadily away from the PCB with no risk of damage to your expensive performance CPU.
Above is a video where der8auer showcases exactly how the delid-die-mate 2 is used. Right now der8auer's Delid-Die-Mate 2 is available to purchase for €29.90 at caseking.de.
