BIOSTAR Brings Windows 7 Support to Selected Intel and AMD Motherboards

Windows 10 is now the world’s most popular consumer OS, and while Windows 7 retains its number 2 position, it is clear that Microsoft’s legacy OS is on its way out.

BIOSTAR, a manufacturer of PC motherboards, has announced that a selection of their mainboards will be receiving official support for Windows 7, seeing a clear demand for newer systems which use Microsoft’s older software. Official support for Windows 7 ends on January 14th 2020, but that doesn’t mean that BIOSTAR intends to abandon the OS just yet.

Selected Intel 300-series motherboards, AMD 300/400 series motherboards (with Bristol, Summit or Pinnacle Ridge processors) and AMD SoC series motherboards will support Windows 7. A list of supported motherboards is available below.

BIOSTAR Brings Windows 7 Support to Selected Intel and AMD Motherboards

BIOSTAR recommends that users of Windows 7 on these motherboards take advantage of Microsoft’s SHA-2 Security Update, which will help to prevent future OS vulnerabilities on Windows 7. More information about Windows 7’s SHA-2 update is available here.

Users of supported BIOSTAR H310 motherboards will need to use BIOSTAR’s Windows 7 Media Creation tool to create a compatible Windows 7 installation image. More information about this tool is available here. At this time it is unknown whether or not higher-end Intel 300-series motherboard will eventually receive Windows 7 support.
