AMD will release two new Ryzen Threadripper processors on October 29th

Earlier this year, AMD released their Ryzen Threadripper 2nd Generation 2950X and 2990WX processors (review link), iterating on their popular Threadripper lineup of processors with increased CPU frequencies, an enhanced memory controller and new high-end models that featured up to 32 processing cores and 64 threads.

Before this launch, AMD confirmed that more Threadripper processors would release in October, delivering models with 12 cores and 24 cores respectively, offering PC users intermediate options between AMD’s Ryzen 2700X, Threadripper 2950X and Threadripper 2990WX. AMD has not confirmed that their Ryzen Threadripper 2920X and 2970WX will receive a worldwide release on October 29th.

Both of AMD’s new Ryzen Threadripper models will feature boost clock speeds that exceed 4GHz, surpassing the single-threaded performance levels of their predecessors, while offering consumers more pricing options on AMD’s Threadripper platform. At this time AMD has no plans to replace their Ryzen Threadripper 1900X with a second generation model.
