AMD reportedly plans to launch Threadripper 7000 processors in 2023 in two forms

It looks like Threadripper 7000 is coming in 2023 in HEDT and Workstation forms

If the hardware leaker Chi11eddog is to be believed, AMD’s planning to release new Ryzen Threadripper “Storm Peak” processors in September 2023, bringing Zen 4 to the HEDT and Workstation markets with high core counts, an large number of PCIe 5.0 lanes, and DDR5 memory. 

AMD’s Ryzen Threadripper 7000 series processors are said to be launching in two forms; a version that is dedicated to the HEDT market and a version that is dedicated to workstation use. 

The HEDT version of Ryzen Threadripper 7000 will support overclocking, feature 4-channel DDR5 memory support, 64 PCIe 5.0 lanes, and eight additional PCIe 3.0 lanes. In contrast, AMD’s Threadripper 7000 (Likely Ryzen Threadripper 7000 Pro) CPUs will not feature overclocking support, feature 8-channel memory support, support 128 PCIe 5.0 lanes, and an additional 8 PCIe 3.0 lanes.

By splitting their Ryzen Threadripper 7000 lineup, AMD are able to offer Threadripper processors and motherboards that suit a wide range of price brackets and lock high-end features like 128 PCIe 5.0 lanes and 8-channel memory support under premium Threadripper PRO prices. At this time, it is unclear how many CPU cores/threads AMD’s Threadripper 7000 series CPUs will support on these two motherboard platforms, though it is likely that AMD’s highest core count Threadripper models will be restricted to AMD’s Threadripper PRO workstation platform.

With AMD’s Threadripper range, AMD offers PC builders and workstation users huge core counts, large memory configurations, enough PCIe lanes to grant users access to insane amounts of GPU compute and high speed storage. If you have a workload that you need to throw a lot of compute at, AMD’s Threadripper lineup is worth considering. With Threadripper 7000, AMD’s HEDT/workstation ranges will be augmented with faster cores, DDR5 memory, PCIe 5.0, and more.
