When NZXT release their new Hi-Series of smart PC cases, the most common criticism thrown at the manufacturer was that many of these cases lacked a non-i variant. Some customers want a simple, well-designed chassis without the slew of smart features like RGB lighting, a dedicated fan controller or audio defined fan profiles. Many of these customers would prefer to purchase a cheaper version of their case without NZXT's smart hub technology.

Thankfully NZXT has answered the calls of consumers with non-i variants of their H700i, H400i, and H200i enclosures, though there remained a gap in the market for customers that wanted a full ATX chassis but didn't want a case as large as the gargantuan H700i. NZXT needed a product in their new H-series that could fill the role of their fan-favourite S340 chassis.

This niche is where the new H500 and H500i come in, offering support for full ATX motherboards in a compact overall form factor and a price tag of $69.99 and $99.99 respectively. The H500i will provide users with an integrated NZXT smart hub, which includes a HUE+ and GRID+ functionality to control up to three fan channels, up to four HUE+ LED strips or 5 Aer RGB fans and a built-in noise sensor for Adaptive Noise Reduction. Otherwise, both cases are identical, using the same tempered glass side panels and internal layout. The H500i also ships with a vertical GPU mounting bracket and two pre-installed RGB strips.

When compared to its other H-series brethren, the H500 only supports a single 240/280mm radiator at the front and a 120mm radiator in the rear, lacking the top-mounted radiator support of the more expensive H700, H400 and H200 series. Fan-wise the chassis supports 2x 120/140mm fans in the front, a single 120/140mm fan at the top and one 120mm fan in the rear.

On the case's front I/O there are two USB 3.1 Gen 1 (USB 3.0) connections and audio input/output jacks. The chassis will also ship in all-black, white/black, red/black and blue/black.

NZXT's new H500 and H500i cases will be available in early June in the US and Mid-June in the EU and the rest of the world with a retail price of $69.99 and $99.99 respectively. This pricing makes the H500 series the most affordable entry point into NZXT's new H-series of PC cases.

I like the cable management trough. Nice way to train the cables into a good flowing arc.Quote

Though I definitely like the new H500i esp price value for what you get...but I wouldn't count my chickens b4 they hatch because that new Phanteks Eclipse P350X is looking mighty good budget-wise at its price point and aesthetics for just $74.99 with TG, 2 color options "All Black" & "Black Ext/White Int." and the built in addressable RGB strips that are very nice and minimally placed in front of case and the side where the TG giving a very clean look aesthetically, filters all over AND built in cable management. But we will see, I am looking forward to both =)

Is it too much to ask for some AIRFLOW? Is there a good enough reason why the front panel doesn't have a mesh for better airflow?

This trend of aesthetics over functionality is becoming ridiculous. Look at the features of the more expensive version. It's mostly about more lighting, Jesus Christ on a pogo stick.Quote
