Modders bring Notre Dame to Civilization VI

Earlier this week much of Notre Dame’s structure was destroyed by fire, sparking international sorrow as one of the world’s most iconic historical buildings went up in smoke. Thankfully, French firefighters were able to save the core of the structure and a large amount of its artwork, but elements such as the building’s spire have been destroyed.

In memory of Notre Dame’s damage, a Civilization VI modder called WindFly has added the cathedral to the game as a world wonder, one which grants players faith, amenities and Great Artist points. The building also offers players three great works slots for art.

Players of Civilization VI can mod the building further to add more useful features to the wonder, though as it stands the building requires 710 productions, the Divine Right civic and a location to build the wonder that’s beside a river.

To create this mod, WindFly took the model and description of Notre Dame from Civilization V, where the building was previously available as a World Wonder, and added them to Civilization VI with a new set of abilities that better suited the new game’s mechanics.

Notre Dame is now available in Civilization VI through the game’s integration of Steam Workshop modding support, which means that the mod can be added to the game for free with a few short clicks. Notre Dame’s Steam Workshop page is accessible through this link.
