Microsoft officially bans game emulators from the Windows/Xbox Stores

Microsoft has officially banned game emulators from both the Windows and Xbox One storefronts, unpublishing popular emulation tools like Universal Emulator (Formerly known as NESBox).

This comes with Microsoft’s new Windows Store Policies, which state that “Apps that Emulate a game system are not allowed on any device family”, which when taken at face value could include some Xbox One/ Windows Store ports of classic titles.

Last September, Microsoft officially banned the sale of several popular emulators on their Xbox One store, though now it seems that this ban is now in place across all Microsoft storefronts/platforms.
