Samsung will reportedly ship LPDDR5 storage and UFS 3.0 storage later this year
The chipmaker is expected to start LPDDR5 production this summer alongside UFS 3.0 storage mediums, both of which are set to deliver higher data rates than their predecessor.Â
UFS 3.0 will become increasingly important as high-end smart devices continue to capture higher resolution photographs and video at increasingly high framerates, where faster read/write speeds will become critical. The higher storage speeds of UFS 3.0 will also allow faster storage mediums to load apps more quickly, though this will also come down to other device factors like processor and memory speeds as storage is not the only limiting factor in this case.Â
LPDDR5 is expected to offer higher levels of memory bandwidth while also delivering an increase in power efficiency, both of which are critical when it comes to the battery life and responsiveness of today’s smart devices.Â
