Nvidia Geforce GTX 1180/2080 PCB leaks – No SLI fingers?
Until now, not much was known about Nvidia’s next-generation GPU architecture, aside from its suspected use of GDDR6 memory and hardware-level support for RTX Ray Tracing Acceleration technology.Â
PCB images of what is suspected to be Nvidia’s GTX 1180/2080 have leaked onto Chiphell, with the PCB’s Nvidia logo indicating that this is a reference PCB design which will support eight GDDR6 memory chips and sport an 8+6 pin power configuration.Â
One of the most noteworthy aspects of this design is its lack of traditional SLI fingers, which are instead swapped out for NVLink connections, which suggests that NVLink will replace SLI moving forward. It is also worth noting that Nvidia’s GTX 1080 uses an 8-pin power configuration, making this new GPU a lot more power hungry, at least in theory.Â

Looking at the GPU’s PCB we can also see that the graphics card has a 10-phase VRM, with the GPU’s memory configuration suggesting that the GPU will support a 256-bit memory bus and either 8GB or 16GB of GDDR6 memory, with 8GB seeming more likely.Â
At the front of the GPU, we can also see no space for a standard DVI-D connection, which seems to indicate that Nvidia plans to drop support for DVI-D on their reference graphics cards. At this time we do not know what kind of display configuration that Nvidia has planned, though we hope to see HDMI 2.1 support.Â

This is likely to be the first of many Nvidia related leaks that will occur over the coming weeks, so expect to hear more about Nvidia’s upcoming graphics cards soon.Â
