ASUS unveils their Z270-WS Workstation motherboard

ASUS has unveiled their new Z270-WS Workstation motherboard, which uses a bridge chip to support additional PCIe 3.0 lanes and offer greater support for multi-GPU systems.

This new motherboard will support a total of 4 PCIe 16x lanes, three of which operate on a single LX bridge chip to offer either dual PCIe 3.0 16x lanes, or a single PCIe 3.0 16x slot and two PCIe 8x lanes (x16/NC/x16 or x16/x8/x8). The fourth PCIe 16x slot operates with an electrical PCIe 3.0 x4  connection to the PCH.

The ASUS Z270-WS uses a 12-phase CPU VRM power delivery system, with four wired DDR4 DIMM slots and supports up to 3866MHz memory. This motherboard also supports dual M.2 storage devices and a U.2 connection, allowing this motherboard to support a wide range of NVMe storage technologies, including Intel’s upcoming 3D X-Point SSDs.
