ASUS is set to release two mini-ITX AM4

It looks like ASUS are finally set to enter this ITX AM4 motherboard arena this October with two new Strix series ITX motherboards, both of which are overclocking ready and utilise AMD’s B350 and Z370 chipsets respectively.

These who upcoming motherboards are the ROG Strix X370-I Gaming and the ROG Strix B350-I Gaming, though sadly neither of these motherboards has been pictured by the company.

At this time we expect that the -I in this product name is a throwback to ASUS’ Impact series of motherboards, which are well known for packing a large number of VRMs into tiny form factors. This design is seemingly ideal for bringing AMD’s latest 8-core CPUs into such compact form factors, though it is too early to tell whether or not these boards will be using ASUS’ unique right-angled “daughterboard” ITX design to fit extra VRMs and features into the compact ITX form factor.

Right now there is not much choice when it comes to building an AM4 system in a mini-ITX form factor, with only five different motherboards on the market from 3 different manufacturers.

These two new motherboards will deliver PC builders some much-needed choice, though to say the least we will be most interested in seeing how good ASUS’ VRM/cooling solution is.
