MSI confirms that its GPU focus is on RTX as their Radeon GPUs disappear from retailers

MSI’s Radeon RX 7000 series GPUs are disappearing from retail, with many models appearing to be discontinued. This trend was spotted by Hardware Unboxed, and now it is clear that MSI are focusing on Nvidia’s GeForce RTX products. MSI remains an AMD partner, but now it’s clear that they aren’t interested in Radeon GPUs.

Did I miss this story? MSI has been completely removed from AMD's Radeon 7000 series, all existing products have been discontinued and they never released a 7700 XT/7800 XT. This all seems to have happened very quietly.

HardwareLuxx has reached out to MSI has has received the following statement. The company has stated that their collaboration with AMD is “essential and relevant”, but that their GPU focus is “more on RTX cards”.

MSI has stated that they see a “very positive development” in their partnership with AMD. Specifically, this relates to “the area of motherboards.” My guess is that this relates to potential new motherboard chipsets from AMD. Zen 5 is coming, and with it should come second generation AM5 motherboards.

When it comes to graphics cards, our focus at the moment is actually more on RTX cards. Nevertheless, the collaboration with AMD is essential and extremely relevant for us. We see a very positive development, particularly in the area of ​​mainboards.

Rumour has it that AMD will be releasing RDNA 4 graphic cards later this year. Based on MSI’s statements, it is likely that we will not be seeing any RDNA 4 based graphics cards from MSI.
