Battlefield 4 Budget Builds

Dirt Showdown

Showdown is one of the games often bundled with an AMD graphics card, and due to this, it's one of the most common racings games people have. Racing games are renowned for getting high framerates, even on lower end systems, so we're expect hardware to do consistently better here than in the majority of the other tests.

With Dirt Showdown, we see far more easy to read data than we saw in the Hitman tests. Although we would have expected the R9 270 to perform a little better here than it did, it still gets well above 60 FPS in both of the tests which is great for any budget system.

My steam box/LAN box was going to be an itx system for around the same price and its amazing how much more expensive the ITX AMD motherboards are. I had to really scale down the graphics (to a 650ti) and get a tiny SSD in order to stay in budget. All the good motherboards cost more than the cpu :l. Thats the issue with cheap OCable cpus I guess :s. In the end I also had to settle with this as a build. It was an easy sell though .

Interesting how surprisingly good the pentiums are at gaming. I really was expecting it to struggle alot more than it did. I wouldn't want a pentium for games like Star Citizen though.Quote

Going to show my brother in law this before he gets a console, nothing wrong with a console but he's turning what was once a powerful rig of a Core 2 Duo, Asus P5B Deluxe, 8GB RAM and a 4850 into a bit of a NAS as his NAS box is broke, and will get a console as well.

Keep telling him to join these forums and look at some of the smaller builds.

Edit: Okay there is something not right if my rig is only doing 20fps with Arkham Origins!Quote
