Test Setup

Patriot Inferno 60GB
ASUS Rampage III
Intel Core i7-920 @ 3.8GHz
Noctua NH-D14
6GB Corsair Dominator GT
EVGA GTX570
Windows 7 x64

IO Meter

IO Meter tests the input and output operations per second. For this test we're using 4KB data blocks which are a nice balance between the tiny sized data blocks that give all drives problems, and the larger sized ones that are handled easily.

Read

IOMeter gives a good indication of overall performance and as you can see here in the read test we're getting just over 220MB/s. A long way short of the proclaimed 290MB/s but around the IO Meter results we've seen previously from SandForce equipped drives.

Write

Writing performance has always been a strong suit of the SandForce and so it proves with the Inferno reaching nearly 240MB/s. A very good figure indeed.

Very Well written review Bryan, I do have a couple of questions and it may be an oversight by me, what OS were you using? and was it 32bit or 64bit. I do not know how much this may impact on results and wonder whether that is also a test that should be done just to see if different OS do make a difference.

It's quite alright we all miss things. Thank you for the nice comments.

The OS wont make a difference unless you're using XP. TRIM doesn't work with XP, kinda with Vista and fine with Win 7.

Although if you're not on Win 7 by now, you really should make that your prior investment.

It's a demon little drive for the money. Just so lovely to see one that isn't black. Little things
