Browsing the pages of eBay for a suitable candidate for a premium paint job, we came across a rather mistreated Cooler Master Praetorian PAC-T01. For those who don't know, this case is a good 5 years old and is in fact one of the first luxury cases I ever purchased. In its heyday the case would have set you back around £160+ thanks to its sexy Mercedes paint job on the top and side panels, but unfortunately the cases previous owner didn't seem to show it much respect.

A winning bid of just £15 sealed the deal (despite our attempts to end the auction early by waving £35 in the sellers face) and we wasted no time in getting the case shipped directly to WCUK from the eBay seller

On arrival at WCUK they got straight to work cleaning the case up and stripping it down to to individual panels. At this point we really needed to decide what colour paint we wanted on the exterior of the case. Unlike the fairly limited RAL based colour charts used for powdercoating colours, the choice of spray paint colours is only limited by your own imagination and finishes such as Pearl, Chameleon, Flake, Metallic and Thermochromic just make the decision process even more difficult.

Shown below are just but a few of the paint additives and finishes that WCUK were able to perform without having to place any special orders:

Orange Blue

Bleu Flake Purple Flake

Green Flake Brown Flake

In the end we decided on a BMW Schwartz Black paint with medium density Purple Holographic flake along with a powdercoated black interior to finish the look. However, before Watercooling UK would go ahead and spray the entire case, they performed a test spray on one of the drive bezels and sent us a photograph for final approval.

Yep, that gets a big thumbs up. So let's see what it looks like applied to our Praetorian over on the next page...

Excellent review and a great example of what u can do with such cases.

I think the pricing is kinda ok. If ur set on doing this sorta thing, and especially if u primarily pick up a cheap case or use an old one u have laying around, it works out pretty good. And of course it`s quite unique.

Somewhat by mistake Jim, u have shown a pick of an outstanding idea for a case design/pattern.

Zoomed to proper size, it doesn`t look as good, but those clouds on the smaller pic looks amazing.

Cheers dude. Yeah tbh for me, I'd easily pay 120 to have my case sprayed. Just covering my back for the "OMG you cud buy a whole new case for that" remarks

If you're gonna go the route of spray painting tho I'd deffo choose WCUK over doing it myself. I tried to spray my stacker and it cost not far off 120 and took me almost a month. At the end of it, it didnt look amazing and I had a very dead arm

I dont understand the 50-70 powder-coating charge...

I have 3 local shops that have quoted me under 30 for an entire case...

I find all the prices a little high wallet wrenching but as far as I can see their workmanship is very good so its the standard you pay for. Powdercoating is actually very cheap so I can only assume that their service does something more or includes free delivery. Anodising would be worth that sort of stack without a doubt.

That would involve you doing all the prep work though.

If you gave them a case they wouldn't strip it down, clean it, put grub screws in all the screw threads, re-assemble it and ship it.

Some people can't be bothered with the hassle of it all, it's easier for them to get us to do it.

We have many many examples of previous work as you can see in our WCUK section and so people don't need to worry about the quality of the finish either.

EDIT: I'm also pretty confident in saying that we've now got one of the fastest

(if not THE fastest) turn around times out of all the other companies offering this service.

Thats what I thought was the reasoning. I like disassembling things but I often end up having to buy new screws as I've lost the others I do still enjoy it though.

If i where to get extenals and internals same price marcus, would it cost the same as 2 colours?

Its not a very big case, smaller than the antec 300, and basic design.

This is it HERE.

I have already sanded down the paint that was on it. all it needs is primed and painted.

Can you quote me a price? PM me it please.

EDIT.

I could just buy the black version for 30. lol this is it HERE.

But please still a quote for 1 whole colour.
