The Future

The majority of the features highlighted by nVidia are things that we, as end users, can’t experience yet. However, two things are clear. Firstly that the PC is definitely the gaming platform of the future. We all know this anyway, such is the pace of development. The second thing is that voxels are coming back in a big way. In the late 90s with titles such as Outcast and Command and Conquer, voxels were everywhere. Polygons took over but now the graphics accelerators have caught up. It could make for some very beautiful games indeed.

The GTX980 utilises extra performance on titles that are less demanding to greatly increase the rendered resolution and then dynamically scale it back to your display resolution to provide higher fidelity.
