With the fastest stock speed of an of the 7970s we've tested, and the highest overclock, it's not a surprise to see the Gigabyte leap to the top of our 3D Mark 11 charts. Cracking 10000 P score with a single GPU is stunning.
3D Mark Vantage
Surprisingly the Vantage P score doesn't replicate the results we saw from 11, with neither the stock nor overclocked results matching up to the VTX and PCS respectively.
With the test set to the Extreme preset the clockspeed shines through and takes the Gigabyte to the top of the pile.

Could it be that Tom had a "bad" version or just out of luck to get a good gpu like you see with some cpu when you start to oc??

i got this yesterday one question though, did the one you got make a buzzing sound under load?
because mine does but its great other then the buzzin as soon as i quit bf3 it stopps buzzing :s i may have to take it back if not
its all running fine BF3 maxed out getting anywhere from 50 - 90 fps on stock.

I think it's more than time the performance going down when a card is overclocked is seriously looked at.
Is it actually £500 for the 9/10 for the price score ? I have no idea on the actual.

If you're a Batman fan, you still save your cash and get a 560ti.. it's crazy what optimizing for one game can do.
.. and they don't like the synthetic Unigine.
