The MAX continues its strange ability to be both impressive and disappointing at the same time. It's consistently amongst the best in our results, without ever actually being so. Given the hoopla that accompanied it we'd expect slightly more, especially when compared to its cheaper cousins. It's unquestionably consistent though. 30677 and 6963 PC Marks in Vantage and 7 respectively are still fine scores.

The MSI MPOWER was one of the best Z77 motherboards we tested, so our hopes are high that the LGA1150 Z87 version is just as good.

Nice reveiw as per usual, glad to see your back on form...

One thing I was wondering is are you doing UEFI installs of Windows 7 or Bios Emulation on top of UEFI ?? Not that this affects performance but I have noticed boot times are almost twice as fast under UEFI....Quote

Personally I just love the CPU power delivery heatsink. Can not say why, but reminds me of Tron, maybe due to the bright colors and angles. Lovin' it!
