MSI Z87 MPOWER MAX Review

BIOS

MSI Z87 MPOWER MAX

BIOS

The BIOS is skinned in an eye-catching/retina-burning yellow depending upon your preference. In general it's similar to every other BIOS you see. Certainly there are slight adjustments in where you find particular tweaks, but it wont take you longer than a moment to get used to it.

The bottom two images provide the biggest talking points. The monitor and fan control screen is a far cry from the simple number output of old, and far more attractive. It's always nice to have a visual representation of your settings. Speaking of which the Board Explorer allows you to see at a glance what you have installed, where, and therefore fault-find a lot faster.

The MSI MPOWER was one of the best Z77 motherboards we tested, so our hopes are high that the LGA1150 Z87 version is just as good.

Nice reveiw as per usual, glad to see your back on form...

One thing I was wondering is are you doing UEFI installs of Windows 7 or Bios Emulation on top of UEFI ?? Not that this affects performance but I have noticed boot times are almost twice as fast under UEFI....

Personally I just love the CPU power delivery heatsink. Can not say why, but reminds me of Tron, maybe due to the bright colors and angles. Lovin' it!

Nice review guys.

PS, now I know what it reminds me of!!!

I was excited to hear about this board and I have to say I agree completely with your review. Looks like another cracking Z87 offering but when I was awaiting its arrival I did think they'd price it closer to the original MPower which seems to now have its gap filled by the GD65 Gaming

Hey there guys!

I just bought this motherboard yesterday... and the only reason (i have to admit) that i bought this one and not the gaming one was because of the looks. i hate red, specially the red used in the MSI gaming board (that looks like salmon color).

Anyway, i hope i can get the best out of this board performance wise

Thank you Tom for the review, and i wish you the best on your recovery.

Regards,
