Gigabyte Z87X-UD4H Review

Sandra Cryptography

In the Sandra cryptography bandwidth test the UD4H performs at the level one would expect both in the stock and overclocked results, due to the clockspeed heavy nature of the benchmark. If anything it emphasises how great the GD65 is.

CineBench

The eternal battle between stock performance and overclocked performance is highlighted perfectly in Maxon's CineBench R11.5. At stock the UD4H is only akin to the D3HP, that is half a point behind our other stock results. Half a point in CineBench is an enormous amount. Yet with the 4.9GHz overclock in place it gives us the highest score we've yet attained from our i7-4770K. A tale of two results indeed.

The moment, when after being so itchy that you go out and buy stuff without waiting much for reviews, the one by your favorite reviewer(s) gets out and confirms you haven't totally f'ed up. Priceless! Of course from using it I had a pretty good idea about that.
TBH I had to get used to the red a bit. But the features just did fit my needs.

Leaves me to say (again) thanks for the review!Quote

Thanks for a very nice comprehesive review Tom.
I agree, the board looks very nice with the silver and candy apple red details.
If i were to build a Haswell platform right now this would certainly be one of the contenders. I also love that you point out that the board might not be the best choice for the peeps that are not overclocking. Good to get all the pros AND the cons.

On another note. Bloody in ...whats up with your language these days? I for one find it....a bit brute - Possibly even offending to some? No need for profanities imo.

Cheers.Quote
