Integrated Graphics Performance

3DMark06

Futuremark's 3DMark06 is a means of testing a system's capability as a gaming machine. It has aged a little, however remains to be an excellent benchmark for all round 3D testing.

Flash HD - Youtube.com

Watching Flash based High Definition video is often more tasking on a system than you'd be led to believe. Without Flash Player 10.1 which enables GPU acceleration, many systems would have otherwise grinded to a halt. Let's see how our test setup performs here.

Microsoft's HD Suite contains a variety of 720p and 1080p video clips. We selected one 1080p Video Clip and gauged performance on the basis of CPU utilisation and fluidity.

Left 4 Dead is a very popular hit and as such was a game that we wanted to throw at our Core i3 530's Integrated GPU. Let's see how well it performs.

All in all, the Radeon HD 4290 has proven itself to be a very capable performer. The CPU Utilisation figures from the Windows Media HD Video Suite were a little higher than expected however the rest of the results paint a very promising picture about the GPU. Combined with it's H.264 acceleration and 7.1 channel sound over HDMI, it's proficiencies truly lie as a HTPC based unit

I would like to know:

Beyond acceleration in flash 10.1 and X264 video, can this integrated GPU be used for OpenCL GPGPU for encoding and calculating physics in game as an add on to a dedicated video card?
