Up Close:  Packaging and Contents

The X41 comes in a flashy Red, White and Black coloured box.  Usefully, as well as presenting us with images of the cooler within the box also gives plenty of detail with regards to the specification and even a brief explanation of the CAM control software, more of which later.

As with many products these days the X41 is nestled within egg box style inner packaging, with each of the main components wrapped, bagged or cardboard sleeved to protect them

Along with the Intel mount that we’ll see when we look in more detail at the Cooler itself you also get fittings for AMD.  A look back at the Technical Specification will show you that it fits most Intel and AMD sockets with the exception of 775 (is it really that old now?)  The instructions provided with the Kraken are amongst the worst we’ve seen, with no clear indication given as to which parts should be selected for which fitting.  The blue on grey nature wonderfully executed by Fractal appears to have failed NZXT with it being almost impossible to work out what you should be attaching where.  All is not lost however as the last box of the instructions points you towards a website that shows short animations of how things are to go together, so NZXT score 0/10 for the paper instructions and 10/10 for the online option.
