Lords of the Fallen 2 has been delayed to 2027 to avoid GTA VI
Lords of the Fallen 2 has been delayed, and that’s a good thing
Marek Tyminski, the CEO of CI Games, has confirmed that Lords of the Fallen 2 has been delayed until Q1 2027. This change will give the studio more time to take advantage of “meaningful opportunities to refine and strengthen the overall experience.” Additionally, this change allows the studio to avoid a “highly competitive holiday season”. In other words, avoid the release of Grand Theft Auto VI.
Sadly, CI Games has not unveiled an official release date for Lords of the Fallen 2. However, the company confirmed this month that the game would launch on Steam on day 1. This follows the studio’s “separation agreement” with Epic Games that freed the game from Epic Games Store exclusivity.
While CI Games’ delay should result in gameplay improvements, Lords of the Fallen 2 isn’t the first game to get delayed to avoid the juggernaut that is Grand Theft Auto 6. GTA VI will overshadow most other games launched in late 2026. With this in mind, it makes sense for CI Games to avoid it. In Q1 2027, talk surrounding Grand Theft Auto 6 will die down, freeing up space for other titles.
Lords of the Fallen II Development Update.
Lords of the Fallen II is now set for a Q1 2027 release window.
As development progresses, we have worked closely with the Gameplay Feedback Team, a dedicated group of seasoned Souls-like veterans within our Launch Creative Team. Their valuable ongoing input, combined with the team’s vision, has identified meaningful opportunities to further refine and strengthen the overall experience.
These enhancements will benefit from additional integration, iteration, and polishing time, enabling the team to deliver the highest possible quality at launch.
This updated release window also strategically positions Lords of the Fallen II outside of a highly competitive holiday period, ensuring the game receives the dedicated attention it deserves. The team remains fully energized by the strong response to our recent reveals and is deeply focused on delivering a standout dark fantasy action RPG and a worthy successor to the Lords of the Fallen franchise. We are grateful for the continued passion, feedback, and support from our community, and we look forward to sharing more updates in the coming months.

When Lords of the Fallen 2 is released, it should now be a stronger, more polished experience. That’s good news for gamers. That said, this delay will likely be costly for CI Games. Let’s hope that this delay will be worth it for them.
