Windows 7 Through Your Letterbox 3 Days Early Page: 1
Windows 7, days early
If you pre ordered yourself a copy of the upcoming Windows operating system from either PC World or Currys, then with a bit of luck you will have receieved your copy today, or tomorrow, days ahead of the official release date. The two retailers shipped copies of the latest OS days early to combat the planned 48 hour postal strike due to take place on release day (22nd October). Users all over the internet confirmed they had their copy through their letterbox today, 3 days before release, which is good news.
Microsoft say they are "aware of the planned postal strike and has taken action to minimise impact on those customers who pre-ordered their copies of Windows 7. As a result, some customers may receive their copy of Windows 7 a day or two early". Elsewhere, a DSGi spokesman, confirmed that they use other carriers, such as DHL, so weren't fully reliant on Royal Mail.
Amazon also say "We will be doing everything we can to ensure that Amazon customer orders are not disrupted including routing orders through our other carrier partners," wether you get your copy from Amazon early or not isn't yet known, but as release day draws closer, atleast most of you can rest assured that your copy of Windows 7 will arrive on time. Hopefully your credit card bill gets delayed though!
