Global storage solutions manufacturer Transcend today announced that it has upgraded its 2.5” solid state drives (SSD) lineup with the latest controller. The new controllers not only makes the drives faster but also significantly improves their stability and longevity, the company said.
The all new controller is a faster and advanced chip, which in combination with the 64MB of built-in DDR2 DRAM cache lets the new SSDs reach sequential read and write speeds of up to 260MB/s and 240MB/s respectively. The new controller also grants the SSDs random read speeds of up to 40MB/s, while random write speeds can reach up to 27MB/s. This lets the SSDs boot up systems faster and cut down on application load times.
Available in four storage sizes of 32GB, 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB respectively, the SSDs are ideal for netbooks, notebooks, top line gaming PCs as well as industrial computers. The new lineup offers each of these systems stutter-free response and stability as well as cool and noise-free operations.
In addition to performance improvements, Transcend’s new SSDs are also fully compatible with the TRIM command that is a part of modern operating systems. The TRIM command is important for keeping up write speeds and reducing undue wear and tear to SSDs. Transcend has also built Error Correction Code (ECC) functionality and static wear leveling into its SSDs so that data writing or erasing from the drives happens in an even manner.
All of the drives are backed by Transcend’s two-year limited warranty. Available immediately, the drives do not yet have their pricing details revealed.
